Tajikistan strengthens cooperation with Arab monarchies

Tajikistan called on the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to involve actively Tajik labor migrants in seasonal work.

The UAE is reforming the sphere of labor migration control in the UAE, the main purpose of which is to attract highly qualified foreign specialists to the labor market.

The UAE and Tajikistan signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Monday, April 16, to promote cooperation in the field of work and labor.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by the Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation Nasser Bin Thani Al Hameli and the Minister of Labor, Migration and Employment of the Republic of Tajikistan, Tagoyzoda Sumangul Said.

This step shows the intentions of these countries to strengthen relations by developing and expanding them in the labor sector. The Memorandum is aimed at increasing the transparency and balance between the labor force from Tajikistan and employers in the UAE, ensuring the protection of the rights of both parties in accordance with the law.

The UAE is an attractive place of work for Tajik citizens due to laws, programs and initiatives implemented by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, which works to protect labor rights.

The representative of Tajikistan stressed that Tajik specialists of different spheres of work fit greately the requirements of the world labor market.

This step will also strengthen the ties between the two friendly countries.

The UAE and Tajikistan also cooperate in expanding and developing the trade, economic, investment, financial, banking, transport and energy sectors.

In November 2017, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation announced that UAE citizens with diplomatic, private and ordinary passports can make visa-free travel to the Republic of Tajikistan.

This step reflects the development of bilateral relations between the UAE and Tajikistan and contributes to their strengthening, as well as the opening of new points of growth in tourism and trade between the two friendly countries

And in December 2017, it became known that Tajikistan and the United Arab Emirates are planning to create a joint fund for investment in various sectors of the economy to strengthen economic ties.

The Fund will help increase the volume of investments in various sectors of Tajikistan’s economy, including infrastructure, energy, tourism and agriculture.

Over the past 10 years, the UAE has invested $ 188.9 million in Tajikistan, $ 72.7 million of which is direct investment, and $ 116.2 million – loans received by companies and organizations. The volume of bilateral trade is also growing.

According to official statistics, the bilateral trade turnover between Tajikistan and the UAE for 10 months of 2017 was over $ 35 million, which is 4.3 percent more than in the same period in 2016.
