The role of Germany in Expo 2020 Dubai

Germany signed an official agreement and will allocate 226 million dirhams for participation in Expo 2020 Dubai, supporting the principles of sustainable development.

Germany has supported the principles of sustainable development and the use of renewable energy sources for a long time, which is the basis of the German economy. Its pavilion, with an area of 4500 square meters, will be possible to visit in the Sustainability sector.

It should be noted that Germany is the fourth economy of the world in terms of nominal GDP.

The country has established the appropriate standards for environmentally safe, reliable and affordable energy supply, including through greater use of renewable energy sources and increased energy efficiency.

By 2050 Germany expects to increase the share of renewable energy sources in power generation from 17% to 80%. The same approach to clean energy is maintained by the UAE, which set a goal by 2050 to increase the share of renewable energy sources to 44%.

The UAE, like Germany, hopes for a more environmentally safe future, and this is one of the main themes of Expo 2020 Dubai.

Participation of Germany in Expo 2020 reflects not only close ties between the two countries, but also the importance of the World Exhibition as a platform for the development of human achievements.

Expo 2020 will provide an opportunity for the unification of countries and organizations in discussing the most pressing problems of our time and will help to find ways to solve them.

Germany is participating in the World Exhibitions not for the first time. It held the Expo 2000 in Hanover – under the slogan “Humanity. Nature. Technologies “, as well as specialized exhibitions in 1957 in Berlin and 1965 in Munich.

Two German international companies have the most important role for Expo 2020, Dubai. The SAP software manufacturer is the official partner of the exhibition for the support of innovative entrepreneurship, and Siemens is the official partner for intellectual infrastructure and operations.

The United Arab Emirates and Germany have been cooperating for many years and continue to develop their relations in various fields.

Last year, the UAE and Germany signed an agreement on cooperation in the energy sector. The agreement covers such topics as renewable energy technologies, energy efficiency, and scientific research. Under this agreement, countries will exchange scientific achievements, hold government and expert meetings, meetings of industry and delegations.

About 10,000 German citizens live in the UAE nowadays, and in 2017 more than 500,000 Germans visited the country, which is 10% higher than in 2016.
